My Novel: Bullies Be Gone

The old gray sofa creaked as Tom flipped to the next page of his scrapbook. Joey sat next to him as Tom explained his life story through pictures. The lovely couple came across a picture of Tom in high school. However this picture was different than the others, he wasn’t smiling in fact he seemed frightened. He wasn’t smiling in any of his high school pictures. The same expression lingered on his face throughout the years of high school.

Joey was becoming a little concerned during this part of the scrapbook. He was scared that something happened to Tom in his high school years. Thoughts raced through his mind. But nothing seemed to fit, Tom is a sweet person. What could have ever happened that made him so frightened? Then at the last second before Tom realized that Joey wasn’t paying attention and something was on his mind he gave up and asked his boyfriend, Tom, what made him so sad and scared.
Finally, Joey mustered up the courage to ask him what was wrong. When Tom replied he started to turn pale and tears rolled down his face. He tried and tried to explain but the same words seemed to come out mumbled and he even had a stutter.He kept repeating the same words, “ I t-tried t-to st-stop him.”
“ Who? Who did you try to stop?” Joey questioned. Tom went silent. He wouldn’t answer, he refused to answer. Tom believed that if he said his name he would come back for him. His high school years haunted him. He never wants to see someone go through what he had to go through. Tom shook his head and tried to forget about him and started to tell his story about high school.
